Designing and building Jarrib, an app for booking experiences and activities

The Kingdom’s experiences are many but scattered across social accounts, organisers and private messages. Jarrib gathers them in one app: the user picks the experience, date and seats, pays, and receives an instant QR ticket. Providers get a dashboard for bookings and payouts.

The problem

Visitors and residents book tourism experiences today through direct messages, trusting the organiser on faith alone, and a seat may be booked that does not exist. On the other side, experience providers deal with unstructured bookings and delayed payments.

A booking made by private message cannot be confirmed or tracked.

The solution

Jarrib is built on trust at every step: providers are verified before their experiences are listed, real-time seat counts prevent overbooking, payment runs through trusted gateways, and a QR ticket arrives within seconds. Experiences are arranged in six categories covering desert, sea, sky, culture, adventure and workshops, and by destination, from AlUla to the Empty Quarter.

Design decisions

The identity uses a warm orange with wide cards and large images, because the product sells a feeling before it sells a seat. The name “Jarrib” is a short verb in the imperative, easy to say, and works both as an invitation and as the app’s title.

The journey is designed to shorten the distance between desire and confirmation: four steps, which are discover, book, pay, and receive your ticket. Because providers have different needs, they get their own sign-up path and a simple dashboard to manage bookings.

Where it stands

The landing page is published in Arabic and English, and the app is launching on the App Store and Google Play. The numbers, experiences, ratings and testimonials on the page are illustrative content showing the shape of the product, not operating statistics.

What this means for your business

Any market scattered between organisers and social accounts can become one trusted platform. But an app succeeds only if it starts from the right concept: who the customer is, what frightens them, and what the provider earns. Those questions are settled before development.

The idea, name, visual identity, interface design and build are by House of Idea, under my creative direction.
